Selecting the Right Tablecloth

Selecting the right tablecloth is a combination of personal taste, type of event, as well as the overall style of your house.

It’s undeniable that the texture, size, and pattern of a tablecloth affects the look-and-feel of your table.

A longer drop form the edges of the table is more suitable for formal occasions. For a casual occasion you don’t need a longer drop. You must always measure your table to determine the measurement of your tablecloth. For a square or round table you will need a square tablecloth. For a rectangular or an oval table you will need a rectangular tablecloth.

The occasion often impacts the colour choice of your tablecloth as well. Formal dining should have light colours. For an informal dining you can use any colour combinations you like.

The pattern of your tablecloth also matches your occasion. Small patterns are better with formal occasions. For informal dining an eye-catching tablecloth is usually the way to go.

If you want to add something extra to your tablecloth, consider adding a runner. The color and pattern of your table runner should complement or nicely contrast the tablecloth.

You can add a runner on its own without a tablecloth. If you use a runner that is shorter than the length of the table, use it under a vase of flowers  or other centrepieces to add a nice style.
